Practices and Perspectives for the Recognition and Re-Signification of Abandoned Architecture and Landscapes."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the framework of the research project on the case study of the Apulia region, Italy, led by Lorenzo Pietropaolo (Politecnico di Bari), an online seminar will be held via Zoom on November 9th, 2021. It is organized by Politecnico di Bari, in collaboration with Instituto Superior T\u00e9cnico Universidade Tecnica de Lisboa \/ Chair of Do.co.mo.mo International, Urbane K\u00fcnste Ruhr, urban@it, and Italian Ministry of Culture, Regional Secretariat for Apulia.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of the on-going research project is to survey the landscapes of abandonment in Apulia, gathering contributions of both specialistic and non-specialistic knowledges in an interdisciplinary approach, activating a geo-referenced multimedia platform for the recognition of the abandoned heritage, promoting processes of awareness, preservation, and reuse through site-specific actions for pilot projects and educational programs with the collaboration of architectural historians, architects, urban planners, artists, and curators.<\/p>\n<p>Avoiding a mere \u201caesthetics of the abandonment\u201d, this research project \u2013 funded by the Region of Apulia within the framework of Research for Innovation (REFIN) Program \u2013 aims to provide a \u201cgeography for the reuse\u201d and the matchmaking between needs and spaces, between public and private constituencies.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of this kick-off seminar is to share different experiences and approaches on the themes related to the research project, to discuss the reflections that stem from the current stage of the on-going research and the related field of study, and to discuss possible orientations and perspectives.<\/p>\n<p>Speakers in this seminar are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ana Tost\u00f5es<\/strong> (Instituto Superior T\u00e9cnico Universidade Tecnica de Lisboa \/ Do.co.mo.mo International)\u00a0<em>The Education for a Sustainable Future: the Role of Modern Heritage Reuse<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Britta Peters<\/strong> (Urbane K\u00fcnste Ruhr)\u00a0<em>Dedicated to the Public. Site-Specific Artistic Interventions as a Way to Open New Perspectives on the Past, Present, and Future of the Ruhr Area<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Lorenzo Pietropaolo<\/strong> (Politecnico di Bari)\u00a0<em>Recognizing and Re-significating Abandoned Heritage in Apulia, Italy. Some Reflections from the Ongoing Research Project.
